COME ON PEOPLE, FOCUS!!!

At a time when it seems that far too many Americans are infatuated with the rather bizarre exploits of Bruce Jenner as he moves forward on his mission to become a ‘woman’, than seem the least bit interested in the fact that our country is quite literally being destroyed right before eyes.  So, how is it that we can possibly hope that, come the next presidential election, they will have the desire, or even the willingness, or will be sufficiently lucid, to vote for someone who might actually work to undo some of what has been done over the course of what will be, by then, the last eight years?  Personally, I’m not holding out much hope.

At the same time that there are so many things that are in urgent need of being discussed, far too many people are far too easily distracted by such unimportant topics as missing airplanes, supposed blizzards of the century that don’t quite materialize, deflated footballs and now, of all things, the gender transformation of some weirdo.  Really?  Are any of these things really all that much more important to people than is the future of their children and the sort of country that we, their supposedly responsible parents, will be leaving behind for them to endure?  Is that really the best we can do?  If so, what a sad state of affairs!

To me, at least, it would seem that living in this age of Barry “Almighty” can be said to very closely resemble a ‘National Inquirer’ kind of world.  It’s like whatever bizarre event or circumstance that comes along is somehow automatically deserving of 24/7/365 news coverage.  It seems as if EVERYTHING is perceived as being so much more important than is the preservation of our country and our way of life.  Come on folks, we really do need to get our act together, and focus on those things that are most important, even crucial, not only to our survival but the wellbeing of our children. We have so little time left to get our shit together.

JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT…

While I can honestly say that I did have this overwhelming sense of impending doom with the arrival of Barry "Almighty", I really didn’t think that we would, today, find ourselves in the spot that we are currently in. Frankly, I thought the American people, even those who were able to bring themselves to vote for him, would not have simply stood idly by and allowed things to progress to the point that they have. Because no matter where you look today, economically, socially, financially or even internationally, America has been made to deteriorate, and pretty rapidly so.

So to say that I am profoundly disappointed in many of my fellow Americans would, I suppose, be more than an understatement. But having said that, I’m also quite sure that most, if not all, of them really couldn’t care less when it comes to the fact that I’m disappointed in them. That, most assuredly, is the very least of their present-day concerns. What seems to now be of primary import to many people is that they now be able to go through life bearing as little responsibility for themselves as possible. Their personal wellbeing has now become the sole responsibility of others.

You see, many in this country, far too many if you ask me, have allowed themselves to be convinced by Barry that our way of life, economically as well as socially, is somehow inherently unfair, when really it’s just the opposite that’s so true. Barry says that people should focus less on what they have and more on what others have that they don’t. Barry preaches envy and jealously. But most of all what Barry preaches is hate. Barry has now convinced millions of us that it is better to rely on the government then on oneself. Because the government is simply much better equipped to guide us through our daily trials and tribulations.

And that so many Americans have actually allowed themselves to buy into what it is that Barry has been selling, and have proceeded to so willingly allow themselves to be so thoroughly manipulated by the man does not bode well for the country being able to survive for very much longer. We should be fighting the government’s determination to get more involved in our personal lives not welcoming it in with open arms. Because with that involvement comes the ability of those in government to dictate to us how it is that we live our lives. That seems like a pretty steep price to me.

I have heard it said by many who are much smarter than myself that America is now at a crossroads, or a tipping point. And I would tend to agree with that assessment. And sadly it’s a situation that is essentially of our own making. And the truly sad thing, at least for me, is that I see very little desire by most people to expend even the slightest amount of effort to get this country back onto what I would consider as being the right track. More and more people have absolutely no problem with becoming a parasite and in just sitting back and allowing the rest of us to take care of their needs.

WILL AMERICA SURVIVE? THE CHOICE IS OURS…

I keep hoping that more people in this country, regardless of whether or not they were born here, regardless of their age, faith, gender or sexual persuasion, will finally come to see what it is that we are losing, and very rapidly so, in this country. Freedom is something so very special, and when you stop for a second, and realize that out of the 7 Billion people that populate this place called Earth, that it’s only a very small fraction who are genuinely free, it makes what we still have in this country all the more unique and special. But for some reason too many in this country refuse to see what’s now being made to take place.

But I’m here to tell you, if we continue on our present course we will, and most assuredly so, join the ranks of those who will never know what it means to be free. And sadly those whom we should be able to count on, and to trust, to be sounding the alarm bells, are now in cahoots with those determined to wipeout those few freedoms that we still possess. And what sort of perplexes me is the fact that all of those who seem to be rooting for this process to continue, also seem to think that once we have all essentially become wards of the state their lives will somehow be made to be so much better. But they are sadly mistaken.

And I’ll tell you right now, the only way that we will ever be able to save this great republic of ours is for us to aside our petty differences and band together as Americans, refusing to be categorized, be it as blacks, gays, women, young, old or whatever. And if we just can’t bring ourselves to do that, then I’m afraid it will cast in stone the only way this story can end, that being with the social, fiscal and economic collapse of America. So I guess I’m more than a little curious about why it is that so many Americans seem to think that a bigger and more powerful government is the answer. Because it definitely is NOT!

And so I think it can now be safely said that our government is officially out of control. And when something like that is allowed to take place, there is absolutely no upside for the citizenry. We have allowed ourselves to be convinced, for whatever the reason, be it out of ignorance, laziness or some misplaced sense of entitlement, to willingly hand over to those on power more and more of our individual liberties. And what many of us seem to have forgotten is that once you choose to relinquish your freedom, there will be no hope of ever getting it back. But apparently many Americans think that it’s a fair exchange.

I’d be curious to know, as a for instance, if those who are in favor of being able to marry their same-sex partners, what freedoms would you be willing to give up in exchange for that ‘right’? Because, make no mistake, it most definitely come with a price. So I hope it’ll be worth it to you. Look, whether or not our country survives, and right now that survival is very much in question, will be determined by what "We the People" see as being OUR top priority. And if doing all that we can to protect our freedoms is not our top priority, then we choose to doom ourselves, as well as our children, to a life spent in servitude and enslavement.

I HAVE A DREAM…

Yes, my friends, I have a dream. I dream of a day when we'll see a majority of the American people finally snapping out of whatever trance it is that they have been in now for what seems, at least to me, to be decades. That they would finally come to realize that the government, and those who are part of government, be they bureaucrats or politicians, are not, I repeat are NOT, their friends. I dream of a time similar to that of my youth, when people like my folks took great pride in being self-reliant, self-sufficient and who were able to raise a family free of government interference. My father believed in an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. He wasn’t afraid of work, having at least two jobs for most of the time I was growing up. And he instilled that work ethic in all of his kids.

I have a dream that once again there would be a majority of people in this country who actually love their country, who still got all teary-eyed at the playing of our national anthem, who recognized the importance of defending our Constitution and of making sure that our government acted responsibly in making sure that future generations would be able to enjoy the level of freedom that our Founders had envisioned for us. I have a dream that people would recognize the need for a military that is second to none, viewing it as being simple commonsense that freedom isn’t free and must be protected. I have a dream that a majority of people would gladly support rules requiring those who wish to join their ranks as citizens of this great country, do so legally and by the rules.

I have a dream that we could see an end to what has become the hyphenated American. That we could all come to the decision to bring an end to the African-American, the Hispanic-American or the Anything Goes-American. I have a dream when we would all look at one another, regardless of our race or religion or country or origin, and see nothing other than a fellow American. I have a dream that more people would come to believe that being an American still meant something special. That while, as a people, we are always willing to lend a helping hand, it should be expected that that helping hand would come with certain limitations. Assistance offered would not be offered with an open end, that those who are offered help would be expected to come to stand on their own.

And I have a dream that people would come to take their right to vote a bit more seriously. And they would also see the importance of protecting that right. I have a dream that a majority of Americans would understand the importance of having someone show some form of identification at the time of voting. And I have a dream that when judging political candidates, more Americans would take the proper measures in determining a candidate’s fitness for holding public office. That more people would look past a candidate’s race or so-called star power. That such things as character, values, integrity, honesty and the standing by one’s principles would become the truly important qualities and/or traits that one would look for in those who one chooses to vote for.

So anyway, there you have it. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m neither foolish, nor naïve, enough to think that much of my dream has much of a chance of ever coming true. Too many people in this country seem have forgotten, or simply have no interest in finding out, what it means to be an American. And I would even go so far as to say that many have been encouraged to do so. And many in this country, when once people came to this country wanting to BECOME an American, now no longer have no such desire to become one of us, seeking only to take advantage of us and of our generosity. The American spirit that once burned so brightly has now become not much more than a flicker. And if we allow it to be extinguished completely, America, as it was meant to be, will surely be dead.

THIS IS OUR COUNTRY…WE ‘MUST’ TAKE IT BACK…

Over the course of my 62 years thus far on this Earth, I have never had much of a tolerance for either ignorance, nor stupidity. And if my 24 years in the Navy did anything, it was to make me even less tolerant. To me, we all owe it to each other to get, and to stay, as informed as we possibly can about what it is that’s going on around us. And not only when it comes to what’s happening here at home, but happening anywhere that might, in any way, have an impact on our way of life. But oddly enough, I seem to be in the minority in this regard. And nothing proves that point better than the fact that Barry was not only elected, but he was re-elected.

And as hard as I try, I just don’t quite understand how, or why, it is that so many of my fellow countrymen can go through their lives, each and every day, completely oblivious to the assault on their country that is actually occurring right in front of their faces. And I’m always curious about how it is that so many people treat it is some kind of joke that they are so blissfully ignorant. And what drives me absolutely insane is the fact how people have the nerve to complain about some new law of public policy that was actually put into effect by the very ones whom they voted for. And when you explain that fact to them, they simply deny it.

I have no idea what can be done to remedy this continuing, and rather disturbing little trend. I mean, after all, you can’t really force someone not to be ignorant or to stay informed about the world. Or even to be ‘less’ ignorant. People have to want to be informed, and more importantly, they have to care. And staying informed isn’t always easy. Sometimes you have to go digging for information, because it’s a very rare occasion when you are told something that you can actually trust to be true and factual. And sadly with ignorance comes a willingness to avoid rocking the boat, to go along, just to get along. And unfortunately, ignorance breeds passivity.

And with the arrival of Barry "Almighty" onto the political scene, the one thing that we, the American people, can no longer afford the risk of appearing passive, or detached when it comes to the goings on of our government. Because once we are perceived as being passive, or weak, it will be that perception that will serve to encourage, or to embolden, those who wish to further dismantle our Republic by further undermining our Constitution. And this, in the end, will allow them to encroach even further into what used to be considered as being our private lives. It is our unwillingness to act on our own behalf that has contributed to the fact that our government is now so out of control.

ANOTHER FINE MESS WE’VE GOTTEN OURSELVES INTO…

So I’m kinda curious about something. What I’m curious about is what all those morons who voted to re-elect the man who could, quite possibly, go down in history as being the worst president this country has ever had, were thinking at that precise moment they chose to vote for him. I mean, his record certainly wasn’t one that, you would think, could possibly instill any level of confidence that he actually knew what he was doing. And the country was obviously much worse off than it was when he first took office. And today, it’s already in even worse shape than it was when he was elected for the second time. So what gives?

And now, what’s likely to be a great many of the very same people who thought that they were being just-oh-so-clever in their voting for Barry, even though that little voice in their head had to have been telling them not to do it, now have the nerve to whine about what they, themselves, have brought about. Because, apparently, the number of Americans who now say that they are actually optimistic about the U.S. economy has dropped to the lowest level in over a year, or so yet another new poll would seem to be telling us. I don’t know, personally, I’m getting a little tired of polls, but since others aren’t, I thought I’d comment.

And so, according a to poll conducted by the Communist News Network (CNN) and ORC International, another left-of-center outfit, which was conducted October 18-20, pessimism about America's future economic health seems to be on the increase. It shouldn’t take a genius to recognize the fact that what Barry is so desperate to do here in America is to convince us just how bad capitalism is, or in Barry-speak how unfair, and how great socialism is. This even though it has been proven, time and again, that there is no better path to achieving success than the capitalist system, and no faster path to abject misery, for all, than socialism.

But I digress, back to this poll. So based on this recent poll I guess we can now ‘safely’ assume that at least fifty-nine percent of Americans are none to confident that our economy will be any better a year from now, in fact they think it’s liable to be worse. And, apparently, 40 percent of Americans, again based on this poll, feel pretty darn confident that the economy will be in good shape this time next year. That was the lowest level of optimism expressed by the public in two years. It also marked a 10 percent drop in optimism about the U.S. economy since June, when 50 percent actually expressed a brighter outlook about the future.

Meanwhile, 71 percent of the 841 adults who were surveyed here said current economic conditions remain poor compared to just 29 percent who said the current conditions are good. Now what do you suppose the racial makeup might be of that 29 percent? Hey, just asking. But look, let’s be honest here, anyone who can look at the current state of our economy, and what’s being done to only make matters worse, and can still say that the current economic condition is good, is either a complete moron, is, for whatever reason, choosing to simply lie through their teeth, or is, in all likelihood, black. Because that’s where we are now.

FEWER AMERICANS TRUST THEIR GOVERNMENT…

Now look, I'll be the first one to admit that I'm far from being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but when I see something like this, the first thing that pops into my head is, what the Hell were people expecting. We have a president who is completely incompetent regarding all things having to do with foreign policy and who, at the same time, is a devoted socialist regarding all things that fall under the heading of domestic policy. Add to that, the fact that we also have a Democrat majority in the Senate who seems to be interested only in raising taxes as high as they can get away with so that they can then turn right around and put our country even further into debt. And our GOP controlled House has offered very little in the way of bona fide resistance.

And all of this craziness is currently taking place because this is exactly what the people voted for. And yet, according to a recent poll, less than half of the American people say they now trust the government to handle the nation's problems, and that, my friends, is a new all-time low. Personally, I voted for people who I, at least, hoped would vote against such things as tax increases as well as against, what has been up to this point, an insane amount of spending that has only continued to accelerate at pace never before seen until Barry first came strutting into the Oval Office. But, sadly, they have been far less aggressive than I had hoped they would be, with many being far too timid when it comes to resisting both higher taxes and additional spending.

So it is then that, according to this new poll, only 49 percent of Americans now say that they have a great deal or fair amount of confidence in the federal government to handle international problems, and again that would be according to Gallup as of today, Friday the 13th. The previous low was 51 percent, and that was back in 2007. And apparently, the public’s trust is even lower when it comes to domestic issues. In that instance, it's just 42 percent of Americans answered with a great deal or fair amount of confidence in the government to handle issues here at home. Our frustration, I think, is coming from different directions, with the moochers among us wanting more, and those of us forced into covering their costs, wanting to provide less.

And what I'm pretty sure is something that will come as absolutely no surprise to nearly anybody, is the fact that it's Democrats who seem to have far more confidence in our government than do Republicans. If you can believe it, it's a rather impressive 78 percent of Democrats who actually say that they trust their government on international issues compared to just 35 percent of Republicans who say the same. However, Democrats don’t have nearly as much faith when it comes to the government’s handling of domestic issues, with only 58 percent saying they have a great deal or fair amount of confidence compared to 25 percent of Republicans. I can only assume that the other 42 percent of Democrats aren't getting what they feel that they're entitled to.

Speaking for myself, these days I don't trust my government to get much of anything right. The majority of our politicians, today, seem to have forgotten exactly why it is that they have their current job and for whom it is that they work. And their primary interest seems to be in trying to find increasingly creative ways for them to keep their jobs. There seems to be very little interest on their part, in doing what would actually best for the country as a whole. And therein lies the problem. We have no one who is willing to dole out a little tough love to those who seem to be of the opinion that they are somehow owed something by the rest of us. When we should actually all consider ourselves to be quite fortunate if no other reason than the fact that we are blessed to live in this country.

And as such, there are certain responsibilities that are actually required of us if we are to have any hope of being able to hand down to future generations a country where they too will be able to enjoy the same freedoms that have been enjoyed by past generations and that are, much to the displeasure of Democrats, guaranteed to us by our Constitution. The most important of those being the electing of responsible men and women whom we can trust to steer our country in such a manner as to achieve the highest level prosperity for all, and to make sure that our enemies know well that we are not a country to be messed with. Unfortunately, these days, many of the politicians whom we chose to elect are nothing more than a reflection of our own reckless disregard for those who come after us.

JUST A PERSONAL OBSERVATION...

You know, I hear liberals say all the time how it is that, regrettably, racism remains very much alive and well in the America of the 21st century. And while I agree with them, up to a point, I disagree with them entirely when it comes to whom that they claim is the source for most, if not all, of that racism. Regardless of what liberals, and most blacks, would have you believe, I see random acts of kindness, on a pretty regular basis, where whites are helping out blacks. Just the other day I saw a young white kid helping out an old black lady whose car wouldn't start. Without really even being asked, he retrieved some jumper cables from the trunk of his car, hooked them up and got her car started without so as much as even a thank you. Which brings me to my point here.

Sadly while racism is alive and well in America today, it has as its home, the black community, and to a lesser extent the Hispanic community. And it's ironic, I think, because we're always told how religious these two groups of people are and how conservative they are in their values, as if that is supposed to preclude them from ever displaying racist tendencies of any kind. But just because one goes to church, doesn't mean that one is religious. These folks will cuss you out and flip you off either on their way to, or on their home from, church. And I don’t believe Christ ever preached about the Christian virtue of getting as much as you can, with as little effort as possible, from your neighbor. I could be wrong but I don't ever remember hearing anything like that from my days of Sunday School.

Minorities, today, somehow feel that the rest of us owe them something. And that when we choose to disagree with their idiotic premise, we only do so because we're racist. But race has nothing whatsoever to do with why I refuse to accept their cockamamie notion that has me owing them something for no other reason than because I happen to be white and they aren't. I am a very firm believer in the idea that you will reap from this life a level of prosperity that is equal to the amount of energy that you expend in that direction. We are all products of the decisions that we have made up whatever stage of life we are presently at. If we've made bad decisions that is no one's fault but our own, and thus where we end up in life is where we were lead by the trail of decisions that we've left behind.

But most of those in the various minority communities don't accept that argument. They feel that regardless of their unwillingness to make good decisions, whatever problems they have had along the way, can in no way be seen as being their fault. Granted it may have been them that made the poor decisions, but they only did so because of some outside influences that were, somehow, made to act on them by whites. Minorities, and blacks in particular, are essentially their own worst enemy. They have this inferiority complex that is essentially the direct result of decades of being told by Democrats that they are somehow incapable of making it on their own without plenty of outside help. They've gotten to the point where they now believe that nonsense, and actually, they are quite content to believe it, because it usually gives them a leg up on the competition.

Hopefully there will come a day, although I doubt that I'll see it in my lifetime, when we will reach that time that Martin Luther King spoke of so eloquently, that time where ALL men will be judged on the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Wouldn't it be something if we stopped viewing ourselves as being adversaries and started thinking of ourselves as being nothing other than Americans? I mean we are all in this thing together, and if this ship sinks, which, at this point in time, it looks like it just might, then we're all going to go down with it. White, black or brown, it's not really going to matter. So I guess what I'm trying to get at here is that if we are to have any hope for surviving very far into the future, then we're ALL going to need to come together, roll up our sleeves and get to work.

SURROUNDED BY IGNORANCE...

One of my stellar co-workers was recently heard to say that he really loves Canada, and how much he feels at home there. I felt like telling him to go ahead and go then. I'm sure it will come as no surprise to hear that he's also a young fella who not only voted for Barry "Almighty" back in 2008, but chose to act in the same illogical manner in 2012 by voting for Barry again. Now this guy is far from being the only truly committed follower of our Dear Beloved Leader in my workplace, as I find myself literally surrounded by those who, while they could state why they were going to be voting for Barry, were intent upon doing so just the same. I happened to make a comment about Barry one day and was told by one of my other stellar co-workers not to say anything bad about 'her' president. While there was more I wanted to say, it was a work environment after all, so I simply bit my tongue.

Most, if not all, of those with whom I work know where I stand when it comes to politics and the issues. So I'm either ignored or the subject of Barry, and/or politics, rarely comes up in conversation. And I suppose in a work situation it's not really appropriate anyway. But there are times when I simply can't help myself, and I'll let fly with a fact or two about this thug that so many seem to be so enthralled with. But my comments usually do nothing more than to go in one ear and out the other, since anyone who could support such an individual as Barry has got to have absolutely nothing between his, or her, ears. These mind-numbed little robots, who seem to be only too happy to believe whatever it is that they are told by their hero, and seem to be so easily convinced into ignoring all that is going on right before their very eyes. They happily view the world through what are some very special rose colored glasses.

And most of these folks are what I would call reasonably intelligent people. They would have to be in order to do the jobs that they do. And yet, most of them insist upon wearing what can only be described as blinders when it comes to their ability to recognize not only the trouble that our country is now presently in, economically, financially, socially as well as morally, but also when considering the trouble that lies ahead in the future that their children will be inhabiting. The massive amounts of money that's being spent cannot go on and is going to be required to be paid back by someone. And that someone will be our children and their children after them. These people sit around talking about how it is that their kids are going off to college and about the great job they'll be getting after graduation all as if it's a done deal. And granted, it may work out that way for some, but not many.

And if you try to point out to them that things cannot keep going as they are, and have been for at least the last four years, and that their kids are likely to progress no further than moving back into their old room upon completion of college, they look at you as if you just stepped off of a flying saucer. What I fear is going to be required to take place here before these people finally get it, is that everything is just going to have to collapse. They're going to have to lose everything before they finally come to realize everything that they had. And while I may not have all that much sympathy for them being in a situation they essentially created for themselves, there is going to be some collateral damage created. And that, my friends, is likely to be many of the rest of who, while we may have seen it all coming, were unable to properly and sufficiently prepare for the magnitude of what's coming.

And what I wish I could impress upon these people is the fact that once they lose everything, they shouldn't be making plans based on they're ever getting anything back. But, like I said, it's not just going to be them that loses everything. We're all going to be made to suffer, because unless you're extremely wealthy there's no real way to prepare for what's very likely headed our way. Oh sure, you can store enough food and ammo to last you a few months, or maybe even a year or two. But what's coming is going to be something that is likely to last a generation, if not longer. And how, exactly, do you prepare for that? Sadly, this coming event is something of our own making, and it is something that could have very easily been averted. But instead we chose to cast aside what we knew was right in favor of empty promises of change. My friends, we are reaping what we sow.

AMERICANS ARE A STRANGE BUNCH…

Americans are a rather strange bunch. I’m not sure if they’re are merely confused, terminally ignorant, or just plain stupid. But it’s very obvious that something is going on here. Because while more and more Americans seem to be content with, or merely resigned to the fact that it’s inevitable, we do have far more people today than ever before who are, in one form or another, dependent on the government. But, and for the third year in a row, the nation's ‘economic recovery’ has hit a springtime soft spot. Reflecting that weakness, only 1 in 4 Americans now expects his or her own financial situation to improve over the next year, so says a new Associated Press-GfK poll. I wonder how many of these folks voted for Barry, and what were they really expecting when doing so?

And it’s this sour mood, of sorts, that is undermining support for what, more and more, Americans are now beginning to view as Barry "Almighty's" poor economic stewardship and for government in general. What the poll shows is that just 46 percent of Americans approve of Barry's grotesque mishandling of the economy while 52 percent disapprove. That's a negative turn from an even split last September, shortly before his re-election, when 49 percent approved and 48 percent disapproved. Just 7 percent of Americans said they trust the government in Washington to do what is right "just about always," the AP-GfK poll found. Fourteen percent trust it "most" of the time and two-thirds trust the federal government just "some of the time"; 11 percent say they never do. Personally speaking, I’m with the 11 percent!

The downbeat public attitudes registered in the survey coincide with several dour economic reports showing recent slowdowns in gains in hiring, consumer retail spending, manufacturing activity and economic growth. I find it unsettling how it is that we have anyone in this country who can, today, bring themselves to actually trust our government or give Barry marks that are anywhere near being positive for his disastrous handling of our economy. Especially with there being so much proof right before their very eyes that socialistic economic policies don’t work, and history makes clear have never worked. And yet, there remains in this country a very significant portion of our population who seems to be quite convinced that socialist-style domestic policies are what we need. But you can’t have it both ways.

In the new poll, few say they saw much improvement in the economy in the last month. Well I’m certainly in that crowd. Just 21 percent say things have gotten better, 17 percent say they've gotten worse and 60 percent thought the economy "stayed about the same." But amazingly, the public seems to be split on whether things will get better anytime soon, with 31 percent saying the national economy will improve in the next year, 33 percent saying it will hold steady and 33 percent saying it will get worse. Further, about 4 in 10 expect the nation's unemployment rate to climb in the next year. If anything those results make it very clear that at least one third of our population consists of those who have their heads buried very firmly in the sand. Either that or they are very devout in their choosing to watch MSNBC on a regular basis.

And the public's outlook for its own financial future is at its worst point in three years. Just 26 percent think their household economic well-being will improve over the next year, 50 percent think it will stay the same and 22 percent expect it to worsen. About 27 percent of those with incomes under $50,000 are the most likely to expect things for them personally to get worse in the next year compared with fewer than 2 in 10 among those with higher incomes. Democrats, who typically rate the economy better under the present Democratic president than do Republicans, have become less optimistic about their financial prospects since January. Then, 41 percent of Democrats thought their finances would improve in the next year while only 30 percent feel that way now.

Jeremy Hammond, 33, of Queensbury, N.Y., a Web programmer, says Congress should focus on "the incredible debt and lack of spending control." For instance, he said, it's absurd for Congress to try to force the Postal Service to continue Saturday mail delivery — an effort that has so far failed — when the agency says, "We can't afford it.' This guy, Hammond, says he considers himself a political independent, which just another way to say Democrat who hasn’t the guts to admit it. He says he voted for Barry in 2008 but not in 2012. Probably doesn’t want to admit that either. Barry's overall job approval in the poll is at its lowest point since his re-election, at 50 percent, with 47 percent disapproving. His approval among Republicans is just 10 percent; among independents, 49 percent disapprove.

So I guess what I’m trying to point our here is that we American people seem to be in favor of socialism when it comes to any number of Barry’s domestic policies, they seem to be somewhat conflicted about how well his socialist approach to the economy might be working. And I can’t help but wonder how many of those willing to say that he’s doing quite well with the economy aren’t doing so out of some misplaced loyalty to the man behind the governments’ making it increasingly simple, actually encouraging, to be on the receiving end of any myriad of ‘entitlement’ programs. Today we have more people dependent on the government, to some degree, than ever before in our history. But at some point things are going to have to change. We can’t go on spending the way we are. And at this point there is going to be no easy fix.

THE WUSSIFICATION OF AMERICA CONTINUES...

Well my friends, slowly but surely we seem to be quite willing to allow liberals in this country to continue on their mission of slowly but surely turning us into what is nothing more than a nation of pussies, a bunch of pansies who are too afraid to fight back! The most recent example comes to us from yet another bastion of liberal lunacy, New Hampshire. In the little community of Windham it has now been made official, the playing of that venerable game of dodgeball is to be no longer permitted. Yup! Can you believe it? With each passing day I am to recognize my country a little less.

So sadly the classic gym class game that has been a rite of passage, of sorts, since even before I first played the game, dodgeball has finally met its match in the form of four limp-wristed wimps on the Windham School board, which at a recent meeting voted 4-1 to end dodgeball and other of what it termed as "human target" activities, games with names like bombardment and slaughter. Most likely, these folks are probably the very same wimps who regularly got their asses beat as kids playing the game and saw this as being their opportunity for a little payback. Better late than never I suppose.

The school district told, what I guess is a local television station, WBZ-TV that a handful of parents had complained about bullying, that their kids were actually targeted during dodgeball. Then, of course, the district studied the issue, with a special committee then making the recommendation that the games be ended. Look, I played the game as a kid, and I remember getting walloped on more than one occasion. But I didn't go home crying to mommy and daddy. I made sure to get the ball and to try to wallop the kid that had nailed me. It's called part of growing up!

Stephanie Wimmer, the school board’s vice chair, told WBZ-TV the board is always "looking at our curriculum" for changes. Right, change. We must always be looking for ways to change things. However, change is not always for the better, as we have seen, repeatedly over the course of the last four years. Hey, here's a novel idea. How about schools go back to actually teaching our kids the three 'R's', and let the kids be kids, now there's a concept. Life isn't easy, nor is it fair. And I think we do our kids a huge disservice by doing what was done in Windham.

Comments on the ban varied. One parent, and obviously a liberal loon, Michelle Alllard, said, "There’s a lot of organized games that they could be playing that don’t entail trying to physically hurt the other person, so I have no problem with them banning it." Gina Lanouette, another Windham parent, says the bullying aspect is a sign of the times. "You can see how most kids would enjoy it but you can see how some children are targeted more than others," said Lanouette. Which makes me wonder, was the playing of the game mandatory? Let kids who don't want to play, sit out.

Windham’s Superintendent, Dr. Henry LaBranche, told WBZ-TV the school district is trying to teach students to respect one another, and the games "create conditions inconsistent with that message". What a bunch of idiotic pabulum. I'd like to challenge this goof to a good game of dodgeball. Of course in my day we called it "Battle Ball." Imagine the outcry from wimps like 'Dr.' LaBranche over that? All this is just another example of how this country is nothing more than a meer shadow of its former self. People used to be proud to call themselves 'Americans,' now I'm almost embarrassed.

Frankly, I suppose I shouldn't be all that surprised that something like this would happen in the northeast, one of those areas of the country where wimps seem to rule supreme. But I just get so tired of this 'minority rule' system that we seem to have going on here. Just because "a handful of parents" complain that their little Johnny, or maybe Sally, was being singled out as being perhaps an easy target, nobody gets to play what really is a rather harmless game. Why must we always punish everybody because of a "handful" of liberal crybabies? It's nothin but ridiculous!

WHAT’S HAPPENDED TO AMERICA?

I’m sure that there are, today, people in this world who look at America and all that it stands for, or at least what it used to stand for before Barry came onto the scene, and wonder what is it, exactly, that we Americans can possibly be thinking. Many of these people live in such places as Eastern Europe, Russia, China and Southeast Asia, and experience every day, or have experienced in the past, what it's like to live under an oppressive system of government. Millions of people yearning to live in freedom are watching us here in America as we continue to hand over, and quite willingly, more and more of our individual freedoms to what is nothing more than a cadre of corrupt bureaucrats. And I’m sure they must be wondering, why is it that we insist upon becoming more and more like them? Why do we seem so enamored with our government?

And, quite frankly, I don't really have any kind of an answer for them. Other than to say, freedom for many in this country appears to have become something that's simply too difficult to have to deal with. More and more people in this country apparently NEED someone to be telling them what to do and how to live their lives. It’s just easier that way, I guess. That way when something goes horribly wrong, they always have someone other than themselves to blame. However, when trying to explain it to those who have never been fortunate enough to live in freedom, that argument, most likely, makes very little sense. Because to them, what could possibly be more important than being able to live in freedom? Those qualities once viewed as being so uniquely American, and that set us apart from the rest of the world, have simply ceased to exist.

Sadly freedom over the entire course of human history has been, I think it safe to say, a very rare commodity. So you would think individuals blessed to live in a nation founded on freedom, would jealously guard that freedom against those who would try to take it from us. And yet, we here in America a seem to take our freedom somewhat for granted and seem quite eager to simply relinquish, completely, what few freedoms we actually have left. These days to be an American means something far different than it did as recently as just a decade or so ago. Where it once meant to be ruggedly independent, it has come to mean completely the opposite today. Where we were once proud to be able to stand on our own two feet, wanting nothing from our government, now too many us seem to think we just can't get by without government assistance.

And too many of us fail to realize, or to understand, that the more dependent one becomes on the government, the more say that same government will have in how one goes about living one’s life. Because it then has the power to dictate how you are to live you life and failure to obey those dictates, risks losing those services that one has become so dependent on the government to deliver. So now many around the world now look at us scratching their heads, wondering what it is that we can be thinking? They know first hand the hazards involved whenever the government has total control over the population. And yet we seem determined to be willing to ignore the evidence right before our eyes that which is always the result from providing government with too much power. Abject misery and universal poverty is always the natural result.
