Now while there was a time when I actually took the
time to tune in every Sunday night to watch CBS’s ’60 Minutes’, that was before
those involved with the show became more interested in ‘fake news.’ That was before Dan Blather did his best to
take George W. Bush out of the running back in 2004, and before this supposed
‘news’ program became less interested in presenting ‘news’ stories and more
interested in the spewing Democrat talking points and perpetuating leftwing
propaganda.
Which brings me to this past Sunday night’s episode
when, during an interview with faux journalist Lesley Stahl, our somewhat
detached House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, seemed to downplay the fact that socialism
seems to be creeping further into her Democrat Party. And it was in so doing that Pelosi actually chose
to describe the hard left faction of Democrats in Congress, seemingly led by
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as being only “like five people.” Just five people, really? I think not!
Stahl posed a rather interesting question, asking
Pelosi, “[Y]ou are contending with a group in Congress. Over here on the left
flank are these self-described socialists — on the right, these moderates. And
you yourself said that you’re the only one who can unify everybody. And the
question is, can you?” Pelosi answered
by saying, “By and large, whatever orientation they came to Congress with, they
know that we have to hold the center.”
And she added, “That we have to go down the mainstream.”
To which Stahl commented, “It looks as if it’s
fractured.” And went on to add, “You
have these wings – [Ocasio-Cortez], and her group on one side — ” but Pelosi quickly added, “That’s like five
people.” And in making such a statement Pelosi
was either demonstrating a significant lack of knowledge regarding her own members
or was just lying outright. She denied that
which is obvious to even the most casual of observers when it comes to the
number of Democrats now spouting what is pure Socialism.
And as much as old Nancy may try to pretend it isn’t
so, it is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who has now become the face of her Democrat
Party, at least in Congress, and there is absolutely nothing “mainstream” about
her or anything that she has been very busy advocating. But that said, much of what we’re hearing from
the likes of Ocasio-Cortez differs very little from what the likes of Pelosi
herself have long supported themselves but have always been very careful never to
admit in public.
And let’s be serious here, any attempt by any
Democrat, including Pelosi, to portray their party as being “mainstream” is
simply a lie since when it comes to the position held by the Democrat Party on
any of the important issues of the day, there is nothing that can be considered
to be “mainstream.” Because it has
become rather painfully obvious that the difference between the new and old
guard of the Democrat Party is not in what they stand for, but in what they're
willing to admit they stand for.
Democrats have spent years accusing the Republican
Party of being racist and more recently the party of white supremacy and for no
other reason than to avert attention away from the fact that their party has
been and continues to be overrun by those who are now espousing nothing short of
Socialism. So while Democrats
characterize us as the party of white supremacy it’s in the Democrat Party that
leftwing extremism rules the day and it is now infested with all manner of radicals
pushing Socialism.
Democrats have long been sowing the seeds of their
own demise. The leftists of the 60s
steered the party further and further to the left during the 80s and 90s with each
generation being more extreme than the last.
They’ve spent decades brainwashing our youth by way of our public
education system and now it is that that is coming back to bite them in the ass. These snowflakes have been raised to view
government both as being able to solve all of their problems and the source of
all they will need.
For those of us who are old enough to remember, it
was once upon a time that there actually were those who had a reputation, and
proudly so, for being conservative members of the Democrat Party, anyone
remember Sam Nunn? But that is definitely
no longer the case, because the Sam Nunns of the party long ago went extinct,
and along with them went the voice of reason, which too no longer exists. Today, you couldn't find a conservative in
the Democrat Party if your life depended on it.
The Democrat party has fully adopted radicalized
Socialism regardless of Pelosi's spin. This isn't a fracture within the party,
it's an attempt to mask the marked leftward lurch that has occurred over the
past decade or so. The polling indicates that the electorate is repulsed and
shocked by the unprofessionalism, ignorance, and immaturity of the Left, so
Pelosi is attempting to temporarily manufacture some ‘distance’ between the
more radical Democrats and the rest of her herd.
As I said, Pelosi and other members of the old guard
are whistling past the graveyard. Look at the policies being proposed by almost
every one of their presidential hopefuls. They've grabbed onto the ‘Green Nuke
Deal’ without a moment's hesitation. That does not sound like Pelosi is in
control of anything. And Pelosi can ‘talk’ about having “to go down the
mainstream”, but each time one of these candidates tells us what they are going
to do to us once elected, they prove that notion totally false.
