FURTHER PROOF THAT BOTOX EATS YOUR BRAIN...
Well, not being able to explain things any other way, I found myself a bit confused by some recent, and quite bizarre, behavior by Nancy Pelosi. I mean imagine my surprise when I heard that she had actually said on Monday that the IRS should be condemned for targeting conservative groups for special scrutiny in the run-up to last year’s elections. And what makes things all the more bizarre is the fact that she also blamed the Supreme Court for opening the door to broader political activity.
In the Citizens United decision, to which the rather scatterbrained Pelosi refers in her blaming the Supreme Court, the court ruled 5-4 that corporations have First Amendment political rights and ruled that while they cannot contribute directly to candidates, they can run ads making their own views known. Pelosi said that has become a problem for the IRS in enforcing the laws. Apparently it's only become a problem when it comes to dealing with conservative groups and organizations
"There needs to be more clarity in the law regarding the activities of tax-exempt organizations along with greater disclosure and transparency. We must overturn Citizens United, which has exacerbated the challenges posed by some of these so-called ‘social welfare’ organizations," Pelosi said. She also called for "appropriate action, without any delay or hesitation" to make sure the IRS is playing fairly. Of course without delay, I suppose even taking priority over Benghazi.
Democrats have been quite determined, for what has been three years now, in their efforts to overturn the Citizens United decision, including Barry "Almighty", who stooped so low as to use his 2010 State of the Union speech to confront Chief Justice John Roberts and his colleagues, who were sitting in the front of the House chamber. But their efforts have repeatedly fallen short, and in last year’s election Democrats, including Barry’s supporters, used the same organizations to aid his re-election bid.
And so we continue to see all manner of supposed outrage coming from Democrats, including Barry, who would much rather have this become the main topic of discussion on the nightly news shows, rather than it be the Benghazi fiasco and how much of a role Hiltery did, or did not, play in how it was that four Americans came to wind up dead at the hands of Muslim terrorists. This IRS story, while it is important, should take the back burner to any effort made to get to the bottom of the Benghazi attacks!
