So, if we can believe what we're being told here, which is always questionable at best whenever you’re dealing with those under the employ of Barry "Almighty", U.S. employers supposedly added 165,000 jobs in April. Action that, theoretically, nudged unemployment 'down' to 7.5 percent, at least according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report released on Friday. However, the U-6 unemployment rate, which is considered to be a broader, and far more accurate, measure of the nation's actual unemployment situation, ticked upwards to 13.9 percent. And we're told that what increases did take place, took place were in professional and business services, food services and drinking places, retail trade, and health care.
Here’s unemployment broken up by group:
1) Men, 7.1 Percent, which is unchanged.
2) Adult women, 6.7 Percent, down from 7.0 Percent.
3) Teenagers, 24.1 Percent, down from 25.1 Percent.
4) Whites, 6.7 Percent, down from 6.8 Percent.
5) Blacks, 13.2 Percent, down from 13.8 Percent.
6) Hispanics 9.0 Percent, down from 9.6 Percent.
We're also supposed to believe here, that the number of people on long-term unemployment (out of work for 27 weeks or more) also fell in April by 258,000, bringing the total number down to 4.4 Million. "Over the past 12 months, the number of long-term unemployed has decreased by 687,000, and their share [of the unemployed] has declined by 3.1 percentage points," or so this report claims. At 63.3 percent, the civilian labor force participation rate was essentially unchanged from March. The labor force participation rate stood at 65.7 percent in January 2009, which marked the beginning of our long and painful sleigh ride to Hell known as the Barry "Almighty" presidency. And things have only proceeded to get very much worse since then.
And something else that very clearly demonstrates just how screwed up things have been allowed to get, is that while the overall unemployment is being reported as remaining unchanged in April at 7.5 percent, the rate for government workers actually continued to improve, dropping to 3.3 percent. The unemployment rate for civilian government workers dropped to 3.3 percent in April from 3.6 percent in March, that to is according to the BLS. The rate has dropped a half percentage point since February. In March, there were 786,000 unemployed federal, state and local governments in the United States. In April, that declined to 715,000. In July 2012, the unemployment rate for government workers was as high as 5.7 percent, and the rate has been in a steady decline since.
And that current unemployment rate for government workers at 3.3 percent, is actually the lowest rate experienced going all the way back to April 2011. As amazing as it may sound, in April we had an absolutely mind-boggling total of 20,269,000 government workers. And those are government workers who, on average, make nearly twice as much as their private sector counterparts when you figure in pay and benefits. Now the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) counts someone as a government worker if they are not in the military and they are currently employed by any level of government—local, state or federal—or they are unemployed, they are looking for work, and their last job was for any level of government.
And let's not forget here that it was during the time span of Barry's first term in office that the number of those participating in the nation's private sector workforce decreased by over 8.3 Million working individuals. Imagine what the unemployment percentage would really be if those folks were still out there and looking for work. That's why the 7.5 percent that Barry's walking around being so proud of, doesn't really mean squat! And remember it was just last June that we heard Barry declare that the private sector was doing just fine and where we were then supposedly seeing problems was in the public sector. He made the rather bizarre point that if Republicans wanted to be helpful what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments.
So, such is the 'Twilight Zone' kind of universe in which Barry has us residing. It's a universe that consists almost entirely of smoke and mirrors, and it's where there exists very little, if anything, of actual substance. We're simply supposed to believe whatever he tells us and to consider ourselves as being so fortunate to have him as our president. You know, rare is the individual who seeks to be president solely out of love of country, but rarer still is a man like Barry, who was motivated to become president out what was, and still is, the deep sense of intense hatred that he has for this country. And it’s so obvious, if at first you allow yourself to actually believe that it's even possible for a man to seek the presidency driven solely by the hatred he holds for the country that he seeks to lead.
