And now we have yet another pathetic example of liberal logic or actually, the lack thereof. A douchebag Democrat by the name of Earl Blumenauer, from that very Blue State of Oregon, says that he has a plan that would nearly double the federal gas tax which he said is needed since the tax hasn’t been raised in years and also because there has been a decrease in fuel tax revenues that has occurred due to, now get this, the improved fuel efficiency of vehicles. Ok, so because the tax hasn’t been raised in years, we need to raise it now? Who thinks like this other than a Democrat?

Anyway, in discussing his proposal in a recent appearance on Fox News, this boob, Blumenauer, said, "First of all, we haven’t raised the gas tax in 20 years." Well then I guess it would be about the ONLY tax that hasn’t been raised since Barry came into the White House. Anyway, this moron then went on to say, "During that time, the amount that the average motorist pays per mile that they drive because of increased fuel efficiency and inflation has been cut in half," he continued. And I guess the fact that American’s are able to save themselves a little money is seen a bad thing?

So if I’ve I got it right, Blumenauer, has now introduced a House bill that would raise the federal gas tax from 18.4 cents per gallon to 33.4 per gallon. His measure would also raise the federal tax on diesel fuel from 24.4 cents to 42.8 cents per gallon. Oh, and by the way, if you’ve seen your grocery bill escalate considerably over the course of the last 5 years, what do you think raising the cost of diesel fuel, as this idiot advocates, will cause it to do? Might it most likely go up even further? So besides seeing it as being ok for you to pay more at the pump, he also thinks it’s ok for you to pay more for food.

And it’s on his website that Blumenauer says, "Instituting a reasonable gas tax increase now provides the revenues Democrats say they want with a form of a user fee which historically has been acceptable to Republicans including Ronald Reagan, who increased the gas tax by a nickel a gallon in 1982." The last time the federal gas tax was increased was in 1993, when it was raised 4.3 cents. This clown brings up Reagan as if to say because he raised the gas tax, we shouldn’t have a problem with Democrats wanting to raise it. Reagan also cut the income tax, is this moron advocating anything like that?

Barry "Almighty" has finalized new fuel economy regulations for vehicle manufacturers. These rules require that all new vehicles average 54.5 miles per gallon by the 2025 model year. And although the government estimates these requirements will increase the cost of a new car by about $2,800, what the actual cost increase to consumers will be has been subject to much debate. So now we’re going to be forced into paying more for our cars because of Democrats, and this guy has no problem with us forcing us to pay more for gas, or for food after he raises the tax on both gas and diesel.

You know, maybe, just maybe, if scumbag Democrats like this clown would allow more drilling on ‘public’ lands, which would very likely then cause the price of gas to come down, more people might actually be willing to go along with, while not necessarily a doubling of the gas tax but, possibly raising the gas tax by a reasonable amount. But that’s now how these big government socialists think. Their war on oil trumps everything else and yet they still want to jack up the price of gas that was $1.86 when Barry "Almighty’ first came into office. We, unlike government, can’t simply print more money.
