AL ‘BULL HORN’ SHARPTON IS OBAMA’S GO TO GUY…
That rather infamous faux preacher, professional race baiter, community agitator and malignant rabble-rouser, as well has the host of that MSNBC ratings juggernaut, "Politics Nation", none other than Al ‘Bull Horn’ Sharpton, recently voiced his displeasure upon finding out that the Senate rejected Debo Adegbile, defender of cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal and Barry’s nominee to be the nation’s chief civil rights attorney, claiming that it sets "a bad precedent." But by whose definition is it a bad precedent?
Ya know, there is really very little that this racist boob can say that surprises me anymore. And it was the fact that seven Democrats joined with 44 Republicans to sink Adegbile’s nomination that got Al’s panties in a bunch. He said, "This is a bad precedent. It is bad voting, and those Republicans and Democrats, we need to remember they did this." What I found to be the most shocking was the fact that there were any Democrats who saw fit to go along with the Republicans on this.
In an effort to refresh everyone’s memory regarding just what a piece of work that Sharpton is defending here, it was this guy, Adegbile, who while working for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund that he represented convicted Philadelphia cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, arguing before the Supreme Court that Abu-Jamal’s conviction should be overturned because of some supposed discrimination in jury selection. Jamal is now serving life in prison without parole.
And what Sharpton essentially did in decrying this rejection by the Senate, was to lie when he said, "Adegbile was voted down today because of his work at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. That’s the legendary civil rights firm founded by Thurgood Marshall. It’s the group that brought us the Brown vs. Board of Education case ending segregation in schools, but today critics pounced on the group’s defense of Mumia Abu Jamal, a man convicted of murdering a police officer back in 1982."
Sharpton ranted, "Abu Jamal has always claimed his innocence, but senators voting no today declared the president’s nominee guilty by association, even though he was merely giving this defendant his constitutional right to a fair defense." Adding, "How can you hold a lawyer responsible for the alleged crimes of his client? It would have a chilling effect on courts all over the country and undercut every Americans’ right to a fair trial." But the facts tell a far different story than the one Sharpton tells.
He then went on to pose what I’m assuming was maybe meant to be a rhetorical question, saying, "What does it say about the judges, who for all of these years voted to give Jamal a new trial or voted another hearing, who were more directly involved than this man, who was just a part of the Legal Defense Fund that was there to make sure this man had a fair trial when there were so many questions that were still unresolved?" This guy, Adegbile was much more than merely an attorney in this case.
In a statement made on the National Action Network’s website, Sharpton, who heads up this idiotic little outfit, called the Senate’s failure to confirm Adegbile "a smack in the face of all Americans" and "a betrayal to those of us that see civil rights legal work as a credible and patriotic duty of those that practice law in this country." There’s not an ounce of truth in anything that Sharpton says and he knows it. To believe Sharpton is to ignore what Adegbile’s real role was.
Sharpton said, "This vote, not only denies Americans a qualified civil rights chief in Justice Department, it also says now that if you work for a civil rights legal organization and engage in cases deemed controversial that you are disqualified from high level public service," adding that it "marginalizes, if not demonizes civil rights lawyering in the country." He pledged, "The vote of Democrats on this is a betrayal that should not go unanswered." Sharpton can make all the threats he wants.
Look, this is all nothing more than simply more of the same kind of incendiary trash-talk that Sharpton has always been known for. And ya know, if this supposed man of God truly cared about people, I just don’t think he’d go around spewing this kind of toxic racial hatred. But he doesn’t care about people, the only thing he cares about is himself. Personally I think he derives some sort of sick pleasure from stirring up as much hate and discontent between people as he possibly can.
