ARE AMERICANS, NOW, SIMPLY TOO FAR GONE?

So I ask you. Are the polls really that skewed in favor of the Democrats, or is a substantial percentage of the American people now simply too far gone, having moved well beyond being able to comprehend, even in the slightest, what’s really going on here, and what’s really at stake? I guess I just don’t understand how anyone can look at the fact that America is now $17 Trillion in debt, and not see that as being a very bad thing. And now, word has apparently come down from on high, that ‘Dingy Harry’ Reid has said that he wants the debt ceiling to be raised by yet another $1 Trillion to take us through the end of the year. REALLY? Does that make sense to anyone? While I wish we would snap out of whatever trance we’re in, I can’t help but think that it’s already too late.

So as our country enters into the eighth day of what is really only a partial shutdown of our government, it would appear, if we can believe these polls, that Republican lawmakers are now taking the brunt of the political heat that has thus far been generated. Although a series of new polls, albeit conducted by mostly left of center organizations, would also seem to indicate that the public blames both parties as well as Barry "Almighty" for the current budget impasse, the lion’s share of the blame always comes down on the side of the GOP. The latest poll from Washington Post/ABC News, both less than credible organizations, of 1,005 adults, shows that 70 percent of those surveyed disapprove of the way Republicans have handled the budget negotiations, with 51 percent saying they "strongly" disapprove.

Ok, now let’s stop and look at that, for a second, shall we. After only nine days after it officially came online, I think it fair to say that we now know the nightmare that Obamacare is going to be. That should now be pretty readily apparent to anyone who’s being the slightest bit honest with themselves. So, personally, I’m all in favor of the Republicans using whatever tactics necessary to, if not completely defund, at least delay Obamacare, with the ultimate goal being either defunding or repealing it. Also, I do not want to see the debt ceiling raised one more dollar. What we need to be focused in on, like a laser, is real spending cuts. So I guess I get somewhat confused when I see some poll that appears to indicate that the American people are essentially arguing for just the opposite.

So anyway, that 70 percent figure represents a seven-point increase from the Post-ABC poll released barely a week ago on Sept. 30 that then showed a 63 percent disapprove of how Republicans have dealt with the budget issues. By comparison, the new Post/ABC poll taken Oct. 2-6 shows that 51 percent disapprove of Barry "Almighty's" handling of budget negotiations, with 39 percent of the public strongly disapproving. Sixty-one percent of respondents also said they disapprove of how congressional Democrats have handled the budget mess. In the Sept. 30 survey, 50 percent of participants said they disapproved of Barry’s handling of the shutdown crisis while Democrats drew a 56 percent disapproval rating. Not matter what, the Republicans are always shown to be more at fault.

Another new survey, this one of 1,009 adults and conducted by CNN/ORC International, two more left of center groups, also, coincidently, found that more people blame Republicans than Democrats or Barry for the shutdown, though, again, both sides are taking some heat. According to this poll, which was conducted Oct. 3-6, 63 percent of those questioned say they are angry at Republicans for the way they have handled the shutdown, compared to 57 percent who feel that way about the Democrats and 53 percent who feel similarly about Barry. "It looks like there is more than enough blame to go around and both parties are being hurt by the shutdown," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. But, again, they made sure to show that MORE people were angry at the Republicans.

And in yet another survey, conducted by a couple more left leaning organizations, CBS News/ New York Times, was released on October 3 and apparently also showed that more people are blaming the Republicans for the shutdown than are blaming the Democrats. Meanwhile, the CNN/ORC survey also indicated growing fears about the impact of the shutdown, with most respondents saying it is causing a crisis or major problems for the country. Specifically, 18 percent of the respondents described the shutdown as a "crisis," while 49 percent said it has already caused major problems. The CNN/ORC results mirror a Gallup survey released October 4 showing that seven in 10 believe the shutdown is causing a crisis or major problems. Only 17 percent of the government is actually shutdown!

So are the American people actually saying that they want House Republicans to just hand over to Barry and the Democrats a blank check? Are they simply never to say no? Apparently so, because if what I heard yesterday is in anyway true, that 20+ Republicans House seats could now be in jeopardy come 2014, no other conclusion can be reached. So have we, as Americans, now become quite enamored with the idea of one party rule? That, to me, is nothing short of absolutely frightening. Because isn’t that what got us saddled with Obamacare, as well as with a level of spending never before seen? Is that really the road we want to go down? Now I’m really not sure how much stock we can put into any of these left tilting polls, but they do make for good propaganda. And propaganda does sell rather well.

As I have tried to argue before, I think that to treat the burying of our children under what is a mountain of debt in such a willful and callous manner, is nothing if not completely irresponsible of us as parents. And what is it, exactly, that we hope to gain from doing so? We are being lied to, on a daily basis, by our president and we seem not to care in the least. We have essentially become nothing more his willing accomplices in his mission to destroy our country. We have thrown our children to the wolves at his behest, and for what? I’m not sure how we have been persuaded to sacrifice the futures of our children at the altar of "Hope and Change," but that seems to be what has happened here. Our country is being destroyed right before our very eyes, and yet far too many of us just don’t seem to care.
