PELOSI ATTEMPTS TO MARSHAL HER MEDIA TROOPS…

Well with the midterm elections now essentially just around the corner, being less than 100 days away, the Democrats, with Ms. Pelosi appearing to lead the charge, now appear to have become much more focused on making sure that their many minions in the state-controlled media understand the importance of what lies ahead between now and the elections. For instance, when asked at a press briefing just this past Thursday why her party's message is "not resonating with the electorate," Pelosi told a room full of reporters "we need you to be messengers."

A reporter asked Pelosi: "So, you make this case about the skepticism that people have of this anti-government premise here. You talk about, you know, they’re riding this impeachment horse, and lawsuit horse, and all these things they are doing in the election. Why, for every political analysis that we see, and including top people in your party, don’t believe that the Democrats have a message that can get the House of Representatives back. What government shutdown--why are these things not resonating with the electorate and won’t resonate this fall?"

To which Pelosi responded: "Well, first of all, we need you to be messengers about what is actually going on here. But, apart from that, we have come forward with our middle-class jump start. Over the month of August, we go forward with how the jump start talks about bringing jobs home. The Republicans have tax breaks to send jobs overseas. Democrats want tax breaks to keep jobs here at home." Whoa, Democrats want tax breaks? Since when? And how do tax breaks send jobs overseas, exactly? Nancy will need to explain that one to me.

But anyway, what Pelosi seems to now be requesting from those in our state-controlled media, is for them to get busy creating, and essentially out of whole cloth, a storyline that can then be sold to the American people in an effort to limit any potential damage the Democrats are likely suffer. And I have no doubt that there will be very little, if any, resistance met from those in the media when it comes to doing all that they can to help out. After all, the majority of those who identify themselves as journalists today see themselves not so much as providers of information, but, instead, as creators of stories the purpose of which is to sway public opinion.
