THE CONTINUING SAGA OF THE KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE…
When it comes to the Keystone XL pipeline, it seems like Barry "Almighty", along with his fellow ‘global warming’ supporting Democrats, has a rather idiotic way of looking at things. And it was Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Gary Doer who attempted to point out just how idiotic in a recent appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe". Mr. Doer said, "Going from 84 to 85 pipelines between our two countries -- we didn't think it would be that complicated." He went on to say, "To have people say no to the pipeline is actually to say yes to higher greenhouse gas emissions." But wait a minute, I thought Barry was against that! I’m so confused!
Doer made note of the fact that Canadian crude oil that is not shipped by pipeline is shipped instead by rail or truck. He asked, "And what are the consequences of that?" And then he chose to answer his own question saying, "Higher emissions, higher GHG, higher risk for people, again according to the State Department; and again, higher costs." He then proceeded to make the point that the oil is coming with or without the Keystone XL. He said, "And when you look out your window and see more tanker trucks, you see more tanker cars on railways, you should know it's a consequence, partially, of not approving a pipeline."
And despite Barry’s best efforts to convince Canada to simply send all of their oil China’s way, Mr. Doer said that Canada prefers to "work in our neighborhood to have energy independence with Canada, United States, Mexico." He went on to say, "So somebody has got to stand up and say the oil is coming down, and it's either going to come down on a pipeline or it's going to come down on rail and it's going to come down on trucks. Somebody's just got to stand up and say that, because it's higher emissions the way it's coming down as we speak today." So it sounds like Mr. Does might be as fed up with Barry as the rest of us are.
As most people know, if it were allowed to be built, the Keystone XL pipeline would cross from Canada into Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska, where it would then connect with existing pipelines to reach refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast. It was just last month that Barry & Co. decided to indefinitely delay any decision on building the pipeline, which liberal donors and environmentalists seem to adamantly oppose. But the opposition really makes no sense if the opposition is based on what we’re told it is. But suppose it’s not. Maybe those who oppose the pipeline are making too much off of all those trucks now bringing the oil.
The fact of the matter is that the trucks and trains currently carrying the oil from Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast pose a far greater environmental risk than does the Keystone XL pipeline. And regardless of what Democrats claim, there is a report by the U.S. State Department that actually backs that up that fact. The report states that transporting the oil above ground causes "higher emissions," "higher risks for people," and "higher costs." Mr. Doer suggested opponents of the pipeline originally believed "if you do not approve the pipeline, the oil will stay in the ground." He said that idea had now "fallen like a house of cards."
Barry’s stubborn refusal to give the ok for the pipeline makes absolutely no sense. Because it’s as Mr. Doer said, "The oil is coming from Canada. The oil is coming from North Dakota and Montana. It's just the way it's getting to the Gulf Coast." So you have to ask yourself, what is it that’s really driving Barry’s opposition to this project? Is it just that he’s just so opposed to fossil fuels? But again, it’s not like he’s stopping the oil from coming here, all he’s succeeding to doing is to force it to be brought here by way of the most inefficient, and most expensive, method possible. So once again, we have a liberal Democrat involved and once again we have stupidity in action!
