THE IRS SCANDAL... THE PLOT THICKENS…

Team Obama's continuing narrative that the targeting of conservatives by the IRS was strictly the work of "low-level" agents in Cincinnati, took yet another significant hit on Thursday. You see it was then that the Wall Street Journal released a new report citing viewed transcripts of interviews with those agents in which they name names of those in Washington who oversaw the action.

First we have Ms. Elizabeth Hofacre, who is apparently one of those shifty, "low-level" Cincinnati agents portrayed as being the culprits in all of this. Ms. Hofacre, according to transcripts of the interviews between two Cincinnati IRS agents and congressional investigators, said, "I was essentially a front person, because I had no autonomy or no authority to act on [applications] without Carter Hull’s influence or input."

According to the Journal, the infamous Mr. Hull is an IRS lawyer in Washington, and is someone who "closely oversaw her work and suggested some of the questions asked applicants." And apparently Ms. Hofacre takes exception to be a scapegoat, and is none too happy about her having been thrown under what is essentially the Barry bus. "I was furious," she told interviewers. "It looked like Lois Lerner was putting it on us."

"All I remember saying and thinking is, ‘This is ridiculous,’" Hofacre said. "Because at the same time, you are getting calls from irate taxpayers. And I see their point. Even if a decision isn’t favorable, they deserve some kind of treatment and they deserve, you know, timeliness, and…these applications and their responses were just being sent up there [to Washington] and I am not sure what was happening."

So I now find myself wondering just how much more of this the American people are going to be willing to take before they finally decide that enough is enough. We cannot allow ourselves to become nothing more that sheep, because that story just does not end well. We must have the courage to stand up to what is nothing more than a rabid abuse of political power, and do so no matter what the consequences.
