In what can be described as being yet another debacle that can be said to be a direct result of what has been some of the least masterful foreign policy ever to be employed, and all under the watchful Barry "Almighty", is the violence that now continues to take place in Egypt. Frankly, I think we have now gotten to a place where the foreign policy plan under this president can safely be described in much the same manner as his attempt at healthcare reform. That, of course, being a train wreck. Barry's rather bizarre notion of how diplomacy is to be conducted was first carried out by the less than capable Hitlery Clinton and then, to make matters even worse, by the even a less capable, and diplomatically ignorant, John Kerry-Heinz.
So in Egypt, which seems to be now bordering on complete chaos, we have now seen the headquarters of Egypt's ruling Muslim Brotherhood completely overrun by youths who then set about ransacking the place after those inside had been evacuated. That activity took place on Monday following a night of deadly violence that ended with at least seven people being killed. It was, by far, the bloodiest incident of Sunday's mammoth and mostly peaceful protests against the Brotherhood and President Mohammed Morsi. It began after dark and continued for hours. A spokesman for the Brotherhood blamed the violence on "thugs" and said it would be demanding answers from police who failed to protect it.
The violence will likely add to what some have said is a sense among Brotherhood members, a group described as one that was long oppressed under President Hosni Mubarak, that they face nothing short of a political siege since being elected last year, which they blame on liberal opponents and loyalists of the old regime. Images of the four-story suburban building, its walls scorched, windows smashed and looters making off with office furniture, recalled those of the destruction of the state security headquarters when Mubarak was toppled in 2011. The Brotherhood had fortified the headquarters’ walls in the run up to the protests. The building was also attacked earlier this year in protests against Morsi.
The entire Middle East region is very quickly becoming what is nothing short of a powder-keg, and with no strong American leadership being present, pretty much anywhere in the world, what we now have is a world that is essentially rudderless in any effort to deal with an increasingly more unstable region. We have the 'conflict' underway in Syria, we have Iran this close to developing nuclear weapons, if they haven't already got a few, we have threats being made toward Israel that are becoming more serious every day, and now we have Egypt literally going up in flames. And all our Secretary of State can see fit to discuss is 'climate change' and gay marriage? If that doesn't describe a train wreck, I'm not sure what does!
